Advanced Capacity Planning in Veeam ONE

In addition to trend analysis and resource optimization, Veeam ONE’s capabilities now include hardware provisioning planning and enhanced what-if modeling. These capabilities, plus a scalable architecture, make Veeam ONE a choice for enterprises because it presents a single point of data collection and advanced analysis for any number of hosts and virtual machines (VMs).
"Our customers tell us that one of their biggest challenges is keeping up with the growing demand for virtualization and cloud computing," said Doug Hazelman, Senior Director of Product Strategy for Veeam. "The new hardware planning and what-if analysis features in Veeam ONE provide valuable planning guidance to datacenter managers and help them avoid being surprised by capacity crises that would force them to make hasty and costly last-minute purchase decisions."
The following new capabilities extend the reach and relevance of Veeam ONE’s capacity planning to help administrators prepare for and justify investments in infrastructure growth:
- Recommendations for hardware planning and provisioning
- Unlike other capacity planning solutions that identify potential problem areas and predict when capacity thresholds will be exceeded, Veeam ONE takes its analysis even further by making recommendations for host and storage acquisitions to address these situations.
- Enhanced what-if analysis
- In addition to modeling scenarios for hosts and VMs that resemble those in the current environment, administrators can now specify custom configuration details for new types of hosts and VMs, allowing them to evaluate growth paths that go beyond simply replicating what exists today.
- Identification of over-provisioned storage
- Thin provisioning of virtual disks stretch storage resources and prevent under-utilized capacity. By seeing how storage resources are parceled out and utilized among VMs, administrators can avoid overly aggressive allocations that cause broad service disruptions.

Advanced capacity planning capabilities are included in Veeam ONE. These capabilities are provided by the Reporter component of Veeam ONE through the Capacity Planning report pack, which is available to Veeam ONE and Veeam Reporter customers at no additional charge.
