European LSI Engenio Employees Are Furious

All of them fired by NetApp without explanation

Following its acquisition of LSI Engenio external disk system activity for $480 million in cash, NetApp has decided to fire all the Engenio  workforce in Europe, according to an inside source of LSI. Why such an abrupt decision? No explanation has been given by the buyer to the employees up to now.

This decision is strange. Why most of the U.S. Ingenio’s people have been kept, why not part of the European staff? Most of them are known as highly technical employees and the LSI’s European market was going well. Engenio was deeply involved in FC, in storage for HPC, and kept strong relation with OEMs on the continent? Who knows this market in Europe at NetApp?

About 60 people are losing their job and searching a new one in the industry, some of them having more than 25 years in the company, and some of them knowing personally Tom Georgens, former CEO of Engenio who succeeds Dan Warmenhoven as CEO of NetApp in 2009.

They are shoked and furious.

On the company’s web site, NetApp is proud to write that it has been ranked #5 on the Best Companies to Work For list by Fortune Magazine in 2011, being in Top 100 for the ninth consecutive year, and furthermore #4 in France and #8 in Germany.
