Bill Nelson Executive VP WW Sales, Nuance

Former senior VP at EMC

Nuance Communications, Inc., provider of voice and language solutions for businesses and consumers, has appointed Bill Nelson as executive vice president, Worldwide Sales, effective immediately.

In this role, Mr. Nelson will oversee the strategy, model and operations of Nuance’s sales resources, including its global sales force and channel partner network. Steve Chambers, who has led Nuance’s worldwide sales efforts since October 2009, will continue in his role as chief marketing officer in addition to other leadership responsibilities in the company.

"Bill brings to Nuance a combination of experience, reputation and skills that make him ideal to lead our sales efforts, and to seize opportunities within our dynamic, fast-moving markets," said Paul Ricci, chairman and CEO of Nuance. "Through Bill’s appointment, we strengthen the leadership and focus of our executive team as we continue aggressive growth, and expand into markets around the world."

Bill Nelson brings to Nuance a history of sales achievement through more than 30 years of executive in sales operations, business development, and market and channel expansion. He joins Nuance from Sungard Availability Services where he was executive vice president of North American Sales. Previously, he was executive vice president of Global Sales at Nortel Networks; senior vice president at EMC; and president of Lucent‘s Service Provider Networks and Softswitch business units. Mr. Nelson also had a distinguished career at AT&T where he held a number of executive roles in sales, marketing and business development.

Bill’s background is diverse and robust, spanning expertise in managing global organizations that address the needs of the world’s largest companies and customers. Throughout his career, Bill has developed knowledge and experience in sales operations to lead companies through growth, and improve the performance of the sales organizations that he has managed.
