Sans Digital MobileRAID MR8X6 ($3,750)

Sans Digital is introducing an 8-bay hardware RAID-embedded tower solution utilizing the latest 6G SAS interface.

Supporting 6G SAS or 6G SATA hard drives, the MobileRAID MR8X6 comes standard with SFF-8088 6G SAS interfaces providing over 800MB/s solution in a compact tower. The MR8X6 is a DAS (directed attached storage) solution suitable for applications that require high speed data transfer rate such as video editing or enterprise server database applications.

The MR8X6 includes features that are previously only available in enterprise rackmount storage systems such as storage expansion through its built-in expansion port, online RAID expansion without system downtimes, remote storage management and e-mail notification for critical events all come standard without additional charges.

Video/audio creative professionals will benefit from the Sans Digital MR8X6 as it provides fast data transfer rate along with enterprise features all in a smaller tower form factor at lower noise level. The MR8X6 also provides storage expansion of up to 7 more MS8X6 (SAS JBOD Expansion Tower) utilizing the same hardware RAID controller in the MR8X6.

The MR8X6 supports both 6G SAS and 6G SATA hard drives and provides hardware RAID 0,1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 data protection against potential hard drives failures. The built-in hardware RAID processor performs RAID algorithm calculations, offloading the CPU utilization resources from the host computers or servers. The MR8X6 also supports clustering applications and storage fail-over with its dual channel SAS interfaces. The RAID processor is built-in into the MR8X6, resulting in virtually no OS compatibility issue. MR8X6 supports Windows including Windows Server 2008 SCSI-3 persistent target requirements for clustering, Mac and also Linux. Virtualization applications including VMware ESX/ESXi Vshpere, Critix XGen Server and Microsoft Hyper-V are also supported.
