Data Storage Corporation Expands Data Centers for BC

Data Storage Corporation (DSC) has expanded and made enhancements to its Westbury, N.Y. data center.

The company will now be able to offer its SafeData VDR (virtual data recovery) solution from its Westbury data center. The additional enhancements made at all four of its data centers will provide its clients and other managed services providers, hosting data at their facilities, more performance of their data backup and recovery solutions via a cloud computing model.

"We have been able to offer our virtual data recovery services from our other data centers, but are now pleased to be able to provide our New York area clients with the same viable cloud-based data recovery solution," said Chuck Piluso, Chairman and CEO of Data Storage Corporation. Matt Grosso, EVP Technical Operations and Engineering stated: "The additional enhancements made to our data centers will shorten the data recovery times for our clients and those managed service providers utilizing our offsite backup facilities. As technology continues to change, we are dedicated to continually advancing the performance of our data centers and expanding these facilities to meet the rising demand for reliable disaster recovery and business continuity solutions."

The upgrades made to the DSC data centers include:

• SafeData VDR – DSC is now able to offer organizations its VDR solution from its Westbury data center, providing them with remote connectivity to a functioning Windows or Linux system complete with their backed up data and applications. DSC will also be adding SafeData DR for IBM iSeries (AS400) Recovery, to complement the services in the DSC RI and MA data centers.
• Network Storage Platform – Leveraging BlueArc‘s storage systems for both its primary storage system and for its data recovery solution, DSC has significantly increased its storage capacity and performance.
• Firewall Security – DSC is now using Stonesoft Corporation’s 1060 Link Aggregation Firewall, a unique network security solution that allows DSC to integrate the firewall and IPS with its high availability and data recovery solutions to offer increased security and scalability.
