Emerald version 7.5 LE
Doubling up as a mini MAM, Emerald performs file-based archiving where scaling is not required. As a standard built-in feature, Emerald integrates into popular Newsroom Computer Systems (NRCS) like AP-ENPS and AVID’s iNEWS via Media Object Server (MOS) protocol. Using the iNEWS and AP-ENPS interfaces, newsroom staff can research archived content, search slugs linked to video archives, browse archived content, and quickly make shot selections without moving from their desk.
Where archived content used to take hours or even days to locate, now it’s a matter of seconds. Reporters can search news archives using key metadata and capture only the desired footage all from their desktop. They can preview stories by browsing a low-resolution proxy and selecting only relevant and topical footage. Emerald drives efficiency in the newsroom by enabling production teams to meet tight deadlines and conduct research for their stories more efficiently. Journalists can research stories at their desktop for more impact and creative reporting. Quality news is produced and reported in a shorter timeframe.
Packaged for out-of-the-box operation, the Emerald turnkey package includes server hardware, LTO library, software and first year’s support. Alternatively Emerald can be accessorized and built to order making for implementation. Masstech’s fee-free unlimited storage licensing policy means Emerald has virtually infinite storage capability.
