Veeam Backup and Replication Optimizes Data Protection

Veeam Software unveiled an end-to-end backup, storage and recovery architecture with HP StorageWorks.

The blueprint includes Veeam Backup & Replication, a data protection and disaster recovery solution that provides disk-based backups that protect virtualized applications and data. Combined with HP D2D StoreOnce Backup Systems, which leverage HP StoreOnce deduplication technology, the combined solution reduces backup storage requirements and slashes recovery time.

Veeam Backup & Replication performs incremental backups of virtual machines running on VMware vSphere to the HP D2D Backup Systems, which eliminate redundant data with HP StoreOnce deduplication software. This reduces overall storage requirements. It automatically verifies the recoverability of every backup by creating a virtual machine (VM) in an isolated environment and running it directly from the backup file. It starts the VM, boots the operating system and confirms that applications inside the VM are running normally. Administrators know that the backups actually work – every backup, every VM, every time.
