Coraid Gains Customers in Cloud Deployments

myownasp.com, Virteva, Dynamic Quest, Biznet Networks, World Wide Communication, and Net4all

Coraid Inc. has become the storage platform of choice for a growing number of cloud hosting and web service providers worldwide. This expands the Coraid cloud customer base to three continents, including deployments in the United States, United Kingdom, France, Italy, Switzerland, Denmark, and Indonesia, representing multiple petabytes of storage capacity.

"In the competitive cloud market, storage economics are king, and Coraid’s EtherDrive platform is a fundamental profit enabler," said Carl Wright, EVP of Sales and Business Development at Coraid. "Traditional Fibre Channel networks and arrays evolved out of the mainframe era, and you can’t build a cloud out of mainframes. Coraid provides a uniquely elastic and scale-out architecture for delivering enterprise-class Ethernet SAN storage in the cloud."

Coraid cloud customers and partners include:

  • myownasp.com (a division of Software Link), ERP hosted application provider of Intuit, QuickBooks and Sage Software Products in the US based in Alpharetta, Georgia.
  • Virteva, a Minneapolis, Minnesota based IT consulting and Managed Service Provider (MSP) serving enterprise clients and medium-sized businesses.
  • Dynamic Quest, a Greensboro, North Carolina MSP, offering managed data center services, IT services, custom software development, help desk services, and interactive marketing services.
  • Biznet Networks, a telecom provider offering network, Internet, data center and cloud services in Indonesia.
  • World Wide Communication, a MSP in Jacksonville, Florida.
  • Net4all, a Switzerland-based MSP offering website hosting, dedicated servers, website design and consulting for open source enterprise content management system TYPO3.

Coraid’s EtherDrive platform redefines storage economics for the cloud, enabling faster performance than legacy Fibre Channel storage at less than one-fifth the cost. EtherDrive prices start at under $500 per terabyte, enabling cloud providers to deliver performance Ethernet SAN while profitably matching the price points of consumer cloud storage offerings.

The network architecture of Ethernet SAN enables massive parallel throughput without the controller bottlenecks of legacy storage arrays. New storage can be added exactly when needed allowing capacity and economics to scale in line with the cloud provider’s customer base. As demonstrated by Coraid’s 60-second SAN challenge, adding new capacity takes less than one minute.

"We need performance, price, and simplicity. Not two out of three, but three out of three," said Stanley Kania, President and CEO of myownasp.com. "We chose Coraid because we got the most bang for our buck, in addition to the ability to scale with our growing customer base. Coraid provides the kind of advanced storage virtualization and data availability we required to successfully continue expanding our business."

In addition, Coraid offers Zero-Hour Support which is a service offering that provides on-site hot-spare EtherDrive storage appliances for remediation of hardware failures in mission-critical environments. This customer-service offering is based on Coraid’s disk-portability technology, which allows users to swap drives between arrays for upgrades, service reconfiguration, data transfers or disaster recovery on the fly which is critical for uptime in cloud deployments.

"Coraid’s Ethernet SAN provides a very flexible building block for our cloud infrastructure," said Adi Kusma, President Director of Biznet Networks. "Coraid’s platform tackles the major challenges facing today’s storage clouds, including: cost-effectiveness, data mobility across cloud providers and the massive computing power demands that are essential for modern data centers."
