CET Universe Signs With Tandberg

For using LTO-4 and LTO-5 drives with Constellation VCM-based workflow products

CET Universe, formerly the Solutions Group Division of Media Distributors and provider of services, systems, and solutions for professional audio and video production, has reached an agreement with Tandberg Data to use Tandberg Data’s internal data drives exclusively for CET’s products that use the Constellation VCM asset and storage management system.

Tandberg Data has certified CET’s Constellation system for use with all Tandberg Data LTO library products. Tandberg Data will also provide its reseller network for CET’s products that use Tandberg Data drives.

CET will certify exclusive use for all Tandberg Data LTO-4 and LTO-5 single internal drives that will be integrated into CET’s Andromeda Server, Fusion Drive, and Archive Station products. The Andromeda Server is a media asset management server appliance, with a plug-and-play system. Fusion Drive combines four removable hard drives and both LTO-4 and LTO-5 drives in a single interface that can run off a laptop. Archive Station is an on-set/near-set video capture system for file-based workflow.

"The media and entertainment industry continues to be a focus for Tandberg Data, as high-resolution video, and computer-generated imagery requires larger storage designs, and CET Universe has developed a leading position in the next-generation of media asset management for this market, as well as others," said Scott Petersen, senior vice president of U.S. sales for Tandberg Data. "We believe that the strength of our respective products, and customer service teams, will provide great value to customers who require the highest levels of storage."

Constellation is a platform that is gaining adoption in the media and entertainment industry, as it provides a unified solution for asset management, storage management, archive management, and workflow automation. No other software is required in order to interface with Tandberg Data LTO drives and LTO libraries.

"The growth of tapeless workflow in the production community has created insatiable storage demands that require the most robust products, with diversity of information back-up, and we have a strong partner in Tandberg Data to help us further our goals in the media and entertainment industry," said Steve Klein, CEO of CET Universe. "Our clients have recognized the value of our best practices for on-set workflow, and we are improving our hardware-based products with products from firms such as Tandberg Data."
