First Acceptance Corporation specializes in non-standard auto insurance, providing insurance to drivers who have trouble obtaining coverage, but are required by law to have a minimum policy. First Acceptance is a self-regulating company, opting to keep its sales, marketing and policy upkeep in-house rather than through independent agents. This means that in order to provide its customers with consistent and reliable service, it is imperative that the company has continuous access to a number of systems that provide access to customer policy information in its primary Nashville data center and in its secondary site in Lombard, Ill.

Downtime in the Nashville data center would impact First Acceptance’s business operations, harming the company’s revenue, reputation and compliance with industry regulations. In order to keep these operations up and running, First Acceptance was looking for a solution that could offer a way to provide availability for its entire IT environment.

"We needed entire site protection against a major disaster," said Shawn Robertson, systems engineer for First Acceptance. "We knew we needed a single solution that was simple to operate, would protect us night and day, and would make our applications disaster-resilient so we could keep our clients insured and protect our organization’s workflow and liabilities."

Since moving to Neverfail, First Acceptance has not had any site failures. However, with regular testing in place, Robertson knows that if disaster strikes, First Acceptance is covered. Neverfail will failover the company’s critical applications to Lombard and will provide continuous availability, not interrupting the organization’s workflow and employees. In addition to using Neverfail for this unplanned downtime, Robertson also plans to use Neverfail for planned downtime, allowing for uninterrupted end user access during regular maintenance and server migration.

"Before Neverfail our disaster recovery plan was based on restoring our business-critical servers from an offsite tape backup.  This could take days to complete. If one or all of our applications running in Nashville becomes unavailable, through application failure, power interruptions or even a natural disaster, we needed a way to be able to maintain business from our secondary data center in Lombard," said Robertson. "Our new disaster recovery plan needed to allow us to conduct business in any location should there be a catastrophic disaster in Nashville, and that’s exactly what Neverfail has done for us."

"More and more organizations, like First Acceptance, are realizing the numerous benefits of Neverfail’s business continuity solutions," said Bob Roudebush, vice president of marketing of Neverfail. "Our single-point management is non-invasive and provides the ability to continue using existing virtualization and storage infrastructure within a company; this is definitely a decision-maker for companies looking for a disaster recovery solution, and we are proud to be able to offer it."
