Apple Ordered 12PB (!) of Storage on Isilon’s Systems
For iTunes
By Jean Jacques Maleval | April 6, 2011 at 3:17 pmApple ordered as much as 12PB of capacity from Isilon Systems, notably to manage the video download of its customers using iTunes, according to an inside source of the new division of EMC.
It’s probably the largest of its 1,500 customers recorded at the end of December, including 20% in Europe.
On April 11, Isilon will launch a new line of hardware and software. But IBM has not respected the embargo and has revealed the enhanced Isilon OneFS 6.5 operating system – integrated with Tivoli Storage Manager – on its web site.
Already several journalists have been briefed under embargo on the new releases and we will publish a deep analysis on the subject next week.
