And entry-level price at $50,000 for 500GB, up to 12TB

Kaminario’s modular Scale-out Performance Architecture (SPEAR) enables flexible scaling of the Kaminario K2’s performance and/or capacity. The Kaminario K2 is available now with an entry-level price of $50,000 and increased capacity that scales to 12 TBs. This enables businesses and organizations of all sizes to take advantage of the 2 to 25 times greater performance for their most demanding I/O-intensive applications, such as OLTP and databases including Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server or Sybase. The Kaminario K2 is also a solid-state device with true N+1 high availability, including mirrored storage with automatic data recovery, redundant Fibre Channel connectivity and a UPS, to reduce the risk of losing data access. Enterprise-grade, high-availability features are now available at an SMB price.

Kaminario announced an entry-level price point of $50,000 to enable SMBs and enterprise departments to take advantage of the K2 storage appliance’s extreme storage performance, scalability and availability for a lower total cost of ownership (TCO) and return on investment (ROI). The Kaminario K2’s overall price per I/O per second (IOPS) and low deployment and management overhead provide a return to companies of all sizes.

According to analyst Jeff Boles of the Taneja Group, "With enterprise-class availability, scalability, performance and endurance at an SMB entry price, the K2 may be the easiest solution to application performance issues on the market today."

The Kaminario K2 SPEAR architecture allows companies to independently scale out capacity, performance or both – as needed. An entry-level, high-availability Kaminario K2 system can be configured with 500 GB of storage and deliver 150,000 IOPS with 1.6 GB/s throughput. The Kaminario K2 can scale up to 12 TB and deliver 1.5 million IOPS with 16 GB/s throughput.

"The market response to Kaminario’s K2 in its first months of availability has been very strong," said Dani Golan, CEO of Kaminario. "Enterprises struggling with application performance issues due to I/O bottlenecks are discovering they can realize a faster ROI and lower TCO by deploying a high-performance storage appliance rather than opting for expensive system upgrades or tuning."

Since its debut last year, the Kaminario K2 has been adopted by enterprises that need to accelerate critical business applications. Companies from financial services firms to Web data mining companies, such as recently announced customer Digital Trowel, have seen increased performance by installing the K2. Analysts including the Enterprise Strategy Group (which called the Kaminario K2 an ‘elegant solution’), the Taneja Group and the Kusnetzky Group have all praised the Kaminario K2 for solving I/O performance bottlenecks in mission-critical applications.
