Bocada in DPSM With Latest Prism Release
Adds alerting on job errors, additional media and drive analysis.
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on March 30, 2011 at 3:04 pmBocada Inc. announced several enhancements to its Prism solution, purpose-built to drive users through the multi-phased DPSM model.
The latest version of Prism, available end of month, adds alerting on job errors, additional media and drive analysis, and more comprehensive SLA rules and expands application coverage with the addition of an agentless plug-in for NetApp SnapVault and SnapMirror and improved recovery point reporting for Microsoft DPM 2010. These enhancements help optimize the data protection environment in order to further improve overall results, lower costs and improve customer satisfaction.
For customers requiring immediate notification of critical problems, Bocada Prism now provides agentless alerting of single or consecutive job failures as often as every 5 minutes. The intelligent alerting functionality in Prism also allows users to create alert activity reports, which consolidate all activity over a period of time and can be emailed on regularly based schedules.
Enhanced Media and Drive analysis reports in Prism and Prism Lite allow customers to see the usage and health of the drives and media in their environment including VTL and tape to aid in load balancing, troubleshooting and capacity analysis.
Bocada has enhanced Prism SLAs, supporting more compliance rules in the configuration wizard, including picking specific days for compliance checks, and enabling visibility of SLAs that have not yet been satisfied because no activity has occurred. These options provide significantly more granularity and flexibility to SLA compliance schedules, enabling MSPs and end users to more effectively manage SLA compliance for multiple stake holders.
Additional enhancements to Bocada Prism include the ability to export and email reports in PDF, CSV and text formats, additional bar chart display options, and support for additional backup levels for more backup products.
"We are focused on delivering the most comprehensive solution on the market to help users more effectively deliver data protection services to internal and/or external customers. The latest version of Prism provides advanced functionality to move users through the DPSM process," said Nancy Hurley, CEO of Bocada. "We are dedicated to ensuring that Prism remains an agentless solution to ease deployment and ongoing administrative tasks, delivering advanced alerting functionality, complex SLA management and broad application support without the need to deploy agents across the data protection infrastructure."
More than a backup reporting solution, Bocada Prism is a service management application purpose built to help organizations move through the DPSM model, a multi-phase set of best practices to ensure cost-effective delivery of data protection services to customers. Bocada leveraged years of customer experiences to create a workflow-driven, intelligent analysis solution with built in SLA impact analysis, change tracking, trend analysis and a searchable knowledge base to ensure organizations can meet business goals and improve operational efficiencies. When used over an extended period of time, Prism provides a historical overview of the backup environment to see if it is operating the way it should be. This information is vital in addressing whether changes need to be made, the architecture needs updating, and what data is readily available, as well as to forecast future growth.
