Movius Interactive Selects ExaGrid

ExaGrid Systems, Inc. announced Movius Interactive Corporation, a Value Added Services (VAS) company for telecommunications providers, selected ExaGrid’s disk-based backup system with deduplication to replace its tape-based backup system.

Movius transitioned to the ExaGrid system for faster, more manageable disk-based backups and now enjoys improved data protection and faster backups and restores.

Prior to ExaGrid, Movius’ network had slowed due to protracted nightly and weekly backups. With nearly 4TB of data to protect, nightly incremental backups had stretched to 12 hours and weekly full backups to 48 hours, negatively affecting employee productivity. Movius’ IT department chose ExaGrid to simplify and speed its backup infrastructure. Since installing ExaGrid, the nightly backups have been trimmed to four hours and weekly backups to 16 hours.

"We noticed our efficiency was compromised because we spent so much time backing up to tape," said Dave Townsend, IT director for Movius. "Now we spend a fraction of the time managing backups, and we focus more on strategic projects and IT initiatives. Prior to ExaGrid, Movius was using 200 tapes to back up the amount of data currently stored on the ExaGrid system. Reducing tape usage has saved Movius money and time by alleviating the aggravation of dealing with tape.
