CSSI Launches CipherSAN SN24100
Sustained transfer rate over 1GB/s, 48TB scalable to 576TB
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on March 14, 2011 at 3:23 pmSubsidiary of CipherWave, Computer Storage Services (Pty) Ltd (CSSI) has released its CipherSAN storage array, the 24-bay CipherSAN 24100 storage appliance that performs up to 32% faster in sustained transfer of data, with close to zero latency as compared to its predecessor, the SN24000.
The CipherSAN is in production in numerous data centres and is the product of selection within the CipherVault, where numerous clients running virtual servers and dedicated machines are supplied their storage demands by the redundant high performance CipherSAN storage appliances.
Each storage device is scalable and can be deployed in the smallest configuration of 8TB, and fully scalable and expandable on the fly with zero downtime.
The CipherSAN is supplied standard with three redundant power supply units and an option for dual controller units operating on 8GBit fibre channel as standard to enable performance, reliability and Dual Channel Clustering.
The 4U, 24 Bay CipherSAN has an independent 64bit controller, and supports RAID 0, 1, 01, 3, 5, 6, 30, 50, 60 and JBOD, has standard 2GB DDR ECC registered cache, hot swappable and load sharing redundant power supplies and a MiniSAS port for additional expansion arrays. The appliance is designed to take benefit of green power standards and automatically control and throttle power demand as required to deliver cost savings and reduce heat.
The latest range allows for redundant hot swap Active-to-Active controllers, which are used for clustering or in high demand-high performance environment where the cloud or virtual servers are usually connected with emphasis on near zero latency. The latest CipherSAN range is certified and benchmarked with SSD drives to deliver unrivalled speed and performance with the STEC range of top of line SSDs delivering up to 80,000 IOPS per drive.
To support customer options between the available SATA and SAS or SSDs as the drive of choice, the storage controllers support and auto-sense the device and will automatically optimise performance settings to achieve performance.
For a limited period, CSSI has available test/demo units for trial periods to VARs and support partner clientele.
The latest addition supplements the currently available 8-bay, 12-bay and 16-bay units CipherSAN storage appliances, and are available in 4Gbit fibre option if required in single channel or dual channel configuration.
