With Linux support
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on February 25, 2011 at 3:03 pmRectiphy Corp. has updated its ActiveImage Protector Virtual Environment Edition with the addition of its new ActiveImage Protector for Linux Edition.
Rectiphy ActiveImage Protector Virtual Edition is a sector-based hot imaging backup and restore solution optimized for server virtualization including VMware vSphere ESX, Citrix Xen Server, multiple Linux kernels and others.
ActiveImage Protector provides backups of a Windows Host along with all Windows and Linux guest virtual machines and applications. With AIP Virtual Environment Edition users pay for one license for each physical host and can then install and backup an unlimited number of Windows and Linux virtual guest machines per host.
ActiveImage Protector for Linux incorporates Smart Sector snapshot technology which speeds up backups and reduces disk storage space in Ext2/Ext3/Ext4 formats. Support for the use of the Linux native snapshot driver enables users to create a backup of the Linux server hard disk or volume without having to shut down the operating system. ActiveImage Protector Linux Edition also supports bare metal recovery and can retrieve individual files from the backup image. ActiveImage Protector Linux Edition supports backup of the Linux Logical Volume Manager (LVM) as well as volume type backups which facilitates disaster recovery in enterprise environments.
Rectiphy’s ActiveImage Protector for Hyper-V is available for backing up Microsoft Windows 2008 R2 servers with Hyper-V. AIP for Hyper-V offers live backup of VSS compliant applications along with patent-pending ReZoom technology for the granular restore of a single VM instead of the entire volume.
ActiveImage Protector family includes features which ensure the recovery of critical information for stand-alone servers and virtual environments. ActiveImage Protector Virtual Edition retails for $1,980, which includes the first year of software maintenance.
