ControlCircle: Cloud-Based Storage for Enterprises

Leveraging NetApp and Backup Assist technology

ControlCircle, data centre and managed services provider, introduced a cloud-based storage solution for enterprises. The scalable data vault will be available on a pay-as-you-go unlimited basis and offers management and secure backup of a firm’s data in the cloud. The new storage option will suit organisations looking to minimise capital investments in storage capacity or that have fluctuating data backup needs.

"ControlCircle’s Cloud Backup provides secure, virtual infrastructure to backup and safeguard an organisation’s most valuable assets in a matter of minutes," said Damian Milkins, President and Founder ControlCircle. "Purchasing storage hardware and setting up data vaults is time-consuming and capital-intensive but moving to a cloud backup solution improves reliability, lowers cost and infrastructure requirements and helps meet compliance requirements. We’re creating more data than we can store and enterprises are already placing cloud backup among their top ten investments for 2011."

Leveraging NetApp and Backup Assist technology, ControlCircle’s managed data vault provides secure backup of customer data. Data is compressed and securely AES-256 bit encrypted for SSL transmission to the cloud where it is monitored and managed on a NetApp fibre disk solution. Customer data is mirrored securely across multiple sites. The cloud-service is accessed through a customised backup application to manage backup configurations, automate backup scheduling, incremental backup, data recovery and restore commands. Data can be stored, distributed and retrieved as needed. In addition, the managed data vault is co-supervised by ControlCircle’s 24×7 Network Operations Team.

"ControlCircle’s Cloud backup protects and preserves data enabling the duplication of an entire enterprise’s infrastructure – which could be terabytes of data – in an easy and reliable way, " added Milkins. "Backup files can be recovered or system restore functions performed as and when required making it a lifeline for mission-critical systems."
