actidata Complements actiNAS Cube RDX
With free backup software
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on February 18, 2011 at 2:55 pmactidata GmbH is shipping its NAS system, the actiNAS Cube RDX featuring an integrated removable RDX disk station, with a backup software especially developed and tailored to meet the needs of the actiNAS Cube’s users.
Now the company presents an update of this software including new functions. actidata’s aim is to deliver an integrated hard- and software solution to the user. This solution enables SMBs to solve central data storage issues and automatic backup for off-site data protection, all-in-one device.
When purchasing the actiNAS Cube, the user gets the best tape and NAS: backup, random access to data and a cartridge for safe keeping. The user is presented with a choice. Either he can choose the actidata software which is specifically developed for usage with the actiNAS Cube. If no other storage devices from other manufacturers have to be addressed in the network, then the actidata backup software is the choice. Or he can opt for the Backup Exec System Recovery Client Edition software from Symantec which is delivered with the Cube, and for which further extensions can be purchased so that data can be secured on any given device, manufacturer-independent.
The actidata backup software is focused on the storage functions of the RDX drive but equipped with all the features necessary to secure data. It includes time-controlled backups, selective backups (including the possibility to limit access for users to individual directory or files) and restore. The software provides a notification tool and can inform about the backup and status of the media (i.e. information about when the disk cartridge needs to be exchanged).
The actidata backup software is pre-installed on all units now being shipped. Customers who have already purchased the actiNAS Cube can obtain this firmware update free-of-charge as a download on the actidata website.
