Memoright Uses Ruggedized In-Drive UPS and Health Doctor
When power supply is disrupted, cache saved on NAND
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on February 16, 2011 at 3:03 pmMemoright Corp., a Taiwan-based developer of SSDs (Solid-State Drives) and high-end storage devices, has integrated In-Drive UPS and Health Doctor, information security mechanisms used in ruggedized platforms, into development of its SSDs for industrial control/IPC applications.
The purpose of the In-Drive UPS inside Memoright SSD is to continue the power supply to the SSD, when the systems’ power supply is disrupted, flushing the cache and saving the data to the NAND. This avoids the occurrence of abnormal bad blocks and prolongs the useful life of SSDs. The In-Drive UPS is a patented technology, originally used in Memoright’s GT/GTR series SSD models for military use with a unit price of above US$2,000.
In addition, Memoright adopts the Health Doctor to monitor and detect temperature, erase counts, bad blocks, spare blocks and other data on the SSD, as well as SSD operating conditions and performance indicators, and then calculates the SSD’s useful life based on these parameters, with all information in graphic display through a customized graphics interface.
In view of growing demand for SSDs used in industrial control and embedded solutions, Memoright adopts In-Drive UPS and Health Doctor high-end technologies and uses in-house firmware design capabilities to develop durable, stable and customized IPC SSD storage solutions for various platforms.
Memoright SSD, based on the company’s capability of developing customized software and firmware, has won adoption by military users around the world. Memoright’s SSDs for industrial control IPC solutions support 2.5", 1.8" and 1.2" form factors, and Disk on Module, SD and CF formats, as well as transmission interfaces of PATA/IDE, SATA, mSATA, and PCIE. The dual protection mechanisms of In-Drive UPS and Health Doctor provide cost-effective information security and storage solutions for platforms of IPC application.
