Rectiphy Corp. added ActiveImage Protector Linux Edition to its family of backup and disaster recovery solutions for Windows and Virtual Environments. ActiveImage Protector Linux Edition features Hot Image backups of live systems,speed, support for most Linux kernels and optimization for virtual environments.

ActiveImage Protector Linux Edition is a disk imaging backup technology for Linux environments. ActiveImage Protector for Linux incorporates Smart Sector snapshot technology which speeds up backups and reduces disk storage space in Ext2/Ext3/Ext4 formats.

Support for the use of the Linux native snapshot driver enables users to create a full backup of the Linux server hard disk or volume without having to shut down the operating system. ActiveImage Protector Linux Edition also supports bare metal recovery and can retrieve individual files from the backup image. ActiveImage Protector Linux Edition supports backup of the Linux Logical Volume Manager (LVM) as well as volume type backups which facilitates disaster recovery in enterprise environments.
