Aptare Enhancing StorageConsole SRM
With agentless collector
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on February 10, 2011 at 3:22 pmAPTARE, Inc. announced enhancements across its unified storage management product suite, StorageConsole.
The release of APTARE StorageConsole Feature Pack One introduces a next generation agentless host data collection for enterprise storage environments. This agentless collector is now designed to apply multiple methods to capture critical storage capacity metrics from the hosts and heterogeneous storage systems. Based on the heuristic method success criteria, the agentless collector ‘learns’ and optimizes its data collection for subsequent scheduled collections.
Data parsing and interpretation rules are decoupled from the core logic of the agent-less data collector in the same way that virus protection software vendors use virus signatures and their rules files. This next generation architecture is designed to expect change. By embracing an architecture that adapts to change and decouples the parsing and data interpretation rules from the core collection logic, APTARE can stay ahead of the fluid and changing world of storage configurations and provide true and accurate business intelligence and trustable metrics.
APTARE StorageConsole Capacity Manager now includes support for EMC virtual (thin) provisioning for CLARiiON and Symmetrix arrays and capacity management support for EMC Symmetrix VMAX storage arrays. Additionally, APTARE StorageConsole Backup Manager has been enhanced to include comprehensive support for Data Domain de-duplication systems.
"With the increasing use of thin provisioning and de-duplication products, our customers continue to look to APTARE for our simple to use unified storage management suite of products to efficiently manage their storage environments," said Rick Clark, President and CEO of APTARE. "With the latest version of APTARE StorageConsole, our customers can deploy the new agentless data collector and embrace a ‘set it and forget it’ approach for pro-actively managing their storage environments."
"By further simplifying and optimizing data collection process, APTARE’s StorageConsole is well positioned to deliver meaningful and actionable information across highly virtualized, heterogeneous storage environments," said Bob Laliberte, Senior Analyst for Enterprise Strategy Group. "As organizations continue to increase their use of server virtualization technologies, APTARE’s StorageConsole will play an increasingly important role in helping organizations better manage and optimize their storage environments."
