HP Selects Emulex 10GbE I/O Controller …

Emulex Corporation announced that its OneConnect technology, based on its next-generation BladeEngine 3 (BE3) 10Gb/s Ethernet (10GbE) I/O Controller (IOC), will provide an Integrated FlexFabric Adapter for two HP ProLiant G7 server blades – the HP ProLiant BL620c G7 server and HP ProLiant BL680c G7 server.

The FlexFabric Adapters work with HP Virtual Connect FlexFabric modules to provide converged networking for server connectivity to data and storage networks.

Emulex is now delivering Local Area Network on Motherboard (LOM), Converged Network Adapter (CNA) and Network Interface Card (NIC) connectivity for six HP ProLiant G7 server blades. The HP NC553i and HP NC551i Dual Port FlexFabric 10Gb Adapters, based on Emulex’s OneConnect technology, provide LOM functionality with autosensing 10GbE/1GbE, hardware-based accelerated iSCSI, TCP/IP offload engine (stateless offloading) and Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) protocol support for the HP ProLiant BL460c, BL465c, BL490c, BL620c, BL680c and BL685c G7 server blades.

"HP ProLiant servers with HP Virtual Connect FlexFabric combined with Emulex OneConnect technology, significantly reduces network equipment by seamlessly consolidating data and storage connectivity and eliminating the need for additional adapters, switch ports and cabling."

In addition, Emulex’s OneConnect technology is used in the new HP NC553m Dual Port FlexFabric 10Gb Adapter and HP NC552m Dual Port Flex-10 10Gb Adapter mezzanine cards providing 10GbE, iSCSI and FCoE connectivity available for all HP ProLiant G6 and G7 server blades. These FlexFabric adapters support HP Virtual Connect, which allows customers to divide each 10Gb blade server port into up to four physical NICs (up to eight network connections per dual port server blade) to optimize bandwidth allocation for virtualized server workloads.

Emulex’s OneConnect Universal CNA (UCNA) and Universal LOM (ULOM) technology is capable of running 10GbE and FCoE or iSCSI concurrently. The convergence of network and storage traffic helps IT organizations keep pace by deploying a new, advanced network architecture integrated into servers which is more coherent, flexible, and agile than today’s 10GbE only networks.
