Shoden Develops QuickView
To monitor HDS Universal and Virtual Storage platforms
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on January 21, 2011 at 3:26 pmShoden Data Systems UK unveiled QuickView, a dashboard that instantly highlights performance and analysis information of the key performance metrics of the Hitachi Universal and Virtual Storage platforms.
Developed by Shoden, the dashboard provides a visual overview that uses a traffic light system to show warnings and errors about current and potential issues, making their detection much quicker.
In today’s information-centric age, organisations rely on their data being available 24/7 as any unscheduled or accidental interruption in business operations can cost anything up to millions of Euros.
Shoden’s QuickView helps users of Hitachi’s enterprise storage platforms by informing them of:
- Controller throughput;
- Front- and back-end utilisation;
- RAID group contention;
- Cache utilisation;
- Historical trends.
Knowledge of the performance of these features allows the administrator to take the necessary steps to ensure that operations and productivity are maintained and given sufficient storage capacity.
"End users want a simple way of gaining a greater insight into subsystem performance and we are now offering this. We have already installed QuickView at a large financial customer site and the feedback has been very positive because it is simple to install and use, intuitive and it is easy to interpret the results," said John Taffinder, CEO of Shoden Data System UK.
With QuickView, administrators can get access to detailed information about an existing or potential issue using a three-level, ‘drill-down’ system, all with a click of the mouse, making the process of identifying and investigating any problem more proactive, accurate and efficient. Utilising a web-based interface, QuickView increases the appeal of the Shoden range of server and storage backup offerings among Hitachi users by allowing them to maximise their enterprise storage investments.
It will be available from February 2011 from Shoden Data Systems.
