Pulsar Process Management Protects Data With SecurStore
Using online backup lifecycle
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on January 20, 2011 at 3:16 pmWith a fifty strong workforce located throughout the world, Pulsar Process Management, Inc., a manufacturer of non-contact level measurement instruments, required a cloud backup service that could guarantee the protection of its data.
Aside from internal staff, the company also has a network of global partners who help support the distribution of its products. The geographical dispersion of the company across global sites meant Pulsar’s existing data infrastructure was no longer an adequate solution.
Prior to the rollout of SecurStore‘s service, Pulsar’s data was kept on external hard disks that were placed in a fire-proof site overnight. In a reassessment of its IT infrastructure, Keith Clethero, IT System Administrator, evaluated that this protection method was inadequate. This prompted Pulsar to approach SecurStore, the online backup and recovery specialists, for a cloud-based solution.
Keith Clethero said: "Our previous method of backup didn’t fully guarantee the safety of our live data and the continuity of the business. If a major catastrophe did occur, there is a large chance that the existing safeguards wouldn’t offer sufficient protection. Therefore, we decided to look at offsite backup for the protection of the business."
Protecting the Business Long-Term
SecurStore‘s Backup Lifecycle Management (BLM) service has provided the solution that Pulsar was searching for. Since choosing SecurStore, Pulsar has been delighted with how it has streamlined the management of its data. The company can also boast full ISO 9001 certification of its data.
Keith Clethero continued: "The level of service that SecurStore has provided has been fantastic. Any issues that we have had with configuration or documentation have been quickly resolved while the general level of support has been exceptional. Knowing that the service is supported by SecurStore’s technical expertise makes it easy to entrust our data to them."
BLM automatically moves data between storage layers to ensure the most cost effective solution is used. This means that business critical data that requires constant access is kept on high performance devices while less important data is moved to longer term storage mediums that prove to be more efficient in the long run.
Moving Forward
Pulsar Process Management now enjoys a backup solution that offers enterprise strength online data protection at a fraction of the cost of a local counterpart. With scalable IT supporting its operations, the business now has the ability to grow its data stores at a cost-effective rate. If a disaster does occur, the data is ready for recovery instantly.
COO of SecurStore, Alexander Eiriksson concluded: "After two years with us, it is great to see that Pulsar continues to recognise the many advantages of our cloud backup system. Hopefully a disaster recovery situation will never occur, but if it does, Pulsar’s infrastructure can withstand the effects and its business will continue undisrupted."
