Mark Long Senior VP Strategy and Corporate Dev’t, Hitachi GST

Hitachi Global Storage Technologies announced the appointment of Mark Long to the position of senior vice president of strategy and corporate development.

hitachi_gst_mark_long Mr. Long has a background in investment banking, strategy consulting, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate finance. He will oversee Hitachi GST’s strategic direction and corporate development opportunities as the company continues to build a long-term storage industry leadership position.

"Mark Long is a great addition to the Hitachi GST senior executive team," said Steve Milligan, president and chief executive officer, Hitachi Global Storage Technologies. "His knowledge and experience brings extraordinary value to the company and will be an important element of our future success. He will lead a team focused on pursuing new high-growth storage market opportunities."

Most recently, Mr. Long served as managing director of VisionPoint Capital, where he provided merger and acquisition and corporate finance services to a range of technology companies, including Fabrik, Inc., which was acquired by Hitachi GST in April 2009. Mr. Long had worked extensively with Fabrik and its investors, advising on venture financings, acquisitions and strategy.

Mr. Long was formerly president and chief strategy officer of SageMetrics, a venture-backed business intelligence software company, and executive vice president of Strategic Development for Intraware, a then publicly held provider of electronic software delivery and management services. Prior to Intraware, he was an investment banker with Credit Suisse First Boston and Deutsche Bank Securities. Mr. Long began his career as a corporate lawyer with Gunderson Dettmer, a leading law firm in California’s Silicon Valley.

Mark earned a JD degree, cum laude, and an MBA, with high distinction, from the University of Michigan.  He completed a BA degree in Philosophy from the University of Arizona.

Mr. Long, who joined the company in July, 2010, will report to president and CEO, Steve Milligan, and be located at the company’s U.S. headquarters in San Jose, Calif.
