Electronic Data Storage Degree Announced by SAU Tech
In collaboration with Prism International
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on January 17, 2011 at 2:59 pmSouthern Arkansas University Tech (SAU Tech) announces its new Information Technology degree emphasis – Electronic Data storage.
The program was created in collaboration with Prism International, the data storage industry professional association, and other industry participants. The two-year Computer Information Technology degree with emphasis in Electronic Data storage is an expansion of SAU Tech’s online Electronic Data storage Certificate of Proficiency.
The Electronic Data storage program was created in response to the industry demand for training in the areas specific to Electronic Data storage, the secure transfer of electronic data to an offsite backup location via the internet or other communication line. The demand for training continues to increase as companies address the learning curve of moving from physical media to online backups. Both the Associate’s degree and the certificate of proficiency aim to ease the learning curve for these organizations, especially storage providers. All of the courses that make up the certificate are available online, as well as many of the courses that comprise the Associate’s degree.
"Our new Information Technology degree program with an emphasis on Electronic Data storage is a natural progression of our existing certificate of proficiency in electronic data storage. SAU Tech is now uniquely positioned to prepare new students to enter this rapidly expanding field as well as to enhance the skills of data management professionals in industry," said Dr. Lamkin, Chancellor of SAU Tech.
The courses specific to Electronic Data storage include:
- Introduction to Data storage
- Enterprise Support Technician
- Data storage Regulations and Standards
- Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery
- Data storage Management, Planning and Architecture
- Database Design and Management
The program is accredited by the Arkansas Higher Education Coordinating Board, and SAU Tech is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association. Classes began January 12, 2011.
