Coraid and Virteva Partner

To both resell EtherDrive within private cloud

Coraid Inc. announced a cloud storage partnership with Virteva, a Twin Cities-based IT consulting and Managed Service Provider (MSP), to both resell Coraid and utilize EtherDrive storage within the Virteva Private Cloud platform.

Virteva cites the scalability, performance, and simplicity of Coraid’s Ethernet SAN as key advantages over legacy storage solutions.

Prior to entering the Private Cloud services market using the Coraid platform, Virteva runs a business delivering consulting and managed services for virtualization and infrastructure services to mid-market and enterprise customers. Like many resellers and MSPs, Virteva has received a number of customer requests to deliver future-proof services in a Private Cloud offering – a concept that Virteva calls Composite IT. Coraid provides a platform to deliver high-performance storage for enterprise applications and virtual desktops, while enabling savings over traditional storage solutions.

"Paradoxically, IT has become both more strategic and more burdensome for most organizations we work with.  By packaging best-in-class server and desktop virtualization solutions enabled by high-performance storage from Coraid,  Virteva enables customers to move to the cloud faster while trimming operational cost and risk from their businesses," said Tom Kieffer, Virteva’s CEO. "Coraid and Virteva are cracking the code on delivering enterprise-class cloud storage infrastructure with disruptive price-performance."

Virteva had three main requirements for their cloud storage platform. They needed to support multiple server operating systems, they needed scale out capacity with ‘just in time’ responsiveness, and they needed to offer multiple levels of reliability matched to a variety of workloads ranging from mission-critical Tier-1 applications to archiving. Coraid’s scale-out Ethernet SAN platform provided a unified tier of storage to support these requirements, while eliminating multiple layers of complexity associated with legacy Fibre Channel and iSCSI storage networks.

"Cloud services can’t be effectively built on legacy platforms, the economics just don’t work, yet many cloud providers are doing just that," said Carl Wright, executive vice president of worldwide sales and business development at Coraid. "Virteva has combined their deep expertise in the virtualization space with Coraid’s cloud-ready Ethernet SAN platform to leapfrog the competition.  When it comes to cloud economics, a 5-10x cost advantage matters. We’re excited to help Virteva change the game for delivering IT."
