Cirtas Integrates Two New Platforms to Bluejet Cloud Storage Controller

AT&T Synaptic SaaS and EMC Atmos

Cirtas Systems announced that users of its Bluejet Cloud Storage Controller solution now have greater flexibility when building enterprise-grade public, private or hybrid cloud storage solutions.

The company has integrated Bluejet with EMC Atmos, making it interoperable with any Atmos-based cloud platform, public or private.

Simultaneously, the company announced integration with the AT&T Synaptic Storage as a Service platform. The new integrations complement Cirtas’ earlier support for cloud storage utility providers Amazon and Iron Mountain, expanding the options available to customers who want to pursue multi-vendor strategies, including leveraging multiple providers simultaneously.

"Cloud storage offers on-demand capabilities that can address the spiraling costs and challenges associated with managing data growth with on-premise storage arrays," said Adam Couture, research director with Gartner. "With the advent of hybrid cloud storage solutions enterprise users can now more readily address the security, performance, manageability, and TCO concerns previously associated with the cloud and utilize it as a low cost alternative extension of their SANs."

The Cirtas Bluejet / EMC Atmos Solution
The EMC Atmos cloud storage platform is designed for enterprise organizations looking to harness the many benefits of the cloud, but who prefer to keep their data within their company firewall. Although private cloud solutions offer many of the same qualities of public cloud solutions, they are also not without challenges, including network security, application compatibility, bandwidth utilization, performance, manageability and total cost of ownership (TCO). Cirtas Bluejet addresses these challenges, uniting proven WAN optimization techniques with advanced virtualized storage array capabilities to deliver an enterprise class, cloud-enabled storage system that enables the private cloud to be utilized as if it were a locally attached storage array.

Deployed together, Bluejet and Atmos create a highly available and scalable solution for enterprise users looking to build private storage clouds behind the firewall. For businesses that leverage Atmos in their primary datacenter but have distributed offices and remote locations that also require access, Bluejet provides a gateway that enables the organization to centralize their data storage management, with accessibility to Atmos from any point on the network.

"The EMC Velocity2 Atmos Partner Program demonstrates our commitment to deliver innovative storage solutions that address the growing needs of our partners seeking to leverage cloud infrastructure. We believe there is an opportunity and approach to cloud storage that delivers financial and functional benefits to both our Partners and the Customers they serve," said Mike Feinberg, senior vice president, EMC Cloud Infrastructure Group. "By making our cloud infrastructure accessible and allowing easy API integration, we enable our partners to respond to customers’ fast-growing demand for cloud-based solutions with greater scalability, elasticity and lower costs. We are pleased to work with Cirtas to embrace and deliver these benefits to our joint customers."

Storage as a Service Solution

Built on the EMC Atmos platform, AT&T Synaptic Storage as a Service is a cloud-based, virtualized on-demand storehouse that easily scales up or down to meet fluctuations in demand. For enterprise users who have preexisting relationships with AT&T’s telecom division, Bluejet’s integration with the AT&T Synaptic Storage as a Service platform makes it simple and painless for them to transition to public cloud storage and scale their bandwidth as needed. Bluejet also supports AT&T Synaptic Storage as a Service local and remote replication policy levels, giving customers a choice of service levels appropriate for both backup and primary storage use cases.

"We are pleased to integrate with AT&T and EMC platforms to deliver complementary solutions to our mutual customers, increasing the choices available to users of Cirtas Bluejet looking to implement private, hybrid or multi-vendor cloud storage initiatives," said Dan Decasper, CEO and cofounder of Cirtas Systems. "In the coming year, we will continue to expand Bluejet’s support for leading cloud platforms to extend the range of providers from which our customers can mix and match services, ensuring they achieve the best possible fit for their data storage needs."
