1&1 Provides Online Storage
2GB for free, 10GB at $3/ month
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on December 28, 2010 at 3:33 pm1&1 Internet Inc., a company in web hosting, is offering additional storage space for 1&1’s Online Office so small businesses can manage important documents more effectively. If the default online storage (2 GB per account) is not sufficient, users can now order more capacity, for example, an additional 10 GB for only $2.99 per month.
Thus, businesses do not need to determine storage capacity requirements far in advance and have the flexibility to adjust the volume to suit their needs at any time. Such scalability is inherent to Cloud solutions and only requires businesses to pay for what they actually require.
Offering up to 1 Terabyte of additional online storage, this new service is suitable as a long-term file archive, for data backup, and for collaboration on current projects. All file formats (PDFs, JPGs, Video-files, etc.) can be integrated into the Cloud via an upload tool and Drag and Drop functionality.
1&1 Online Office provides access to important documents for business employees anywhere and at any time with an Internet connection needed. Work can be conducted remotely via a Smartphone, laptop or any desktop computer. By ensuring that all colleagues have access to the latest file versions, there is no longer a need to distribute critical business data through email.
All data is stored securely on servers within 1&1’s data centres. Specially trained engineers, precautionary measures and redundant systems in the data centre infrastructure are used to protect business data against loss, downtime, external dangers (such as fire, water, gas) or cyber attacks, 365 days a year.
Since all data is securely hosted, and not saved locally on various hardware and computer systems within an office environment, the risk of data being contaminated by malware is decreased significantly. In recent times, viruses and trojans have frequently gained access to small business’ PCs via external storage media such as USB flash drives.
The secure 1&1 Online Office is included in all 1&1 email, shared hosting, and server solutions. For each email account created within these packages, 1&1 provides an additional Office account for free. The browser-based suite contains text, presentation, and spread-sheet programs. Users are now able to create, read, change, and store documents that are compatible with other common office formats.
