The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles is a non-profit committed to caring for Jews in need, ensuring the Jewish future and engaging in the community in Los Angeles, Israel and around the world.

The Jewish Federation has deployed two instances of EVault for DPM, an all-in-one backup and recovery appliance that extends DPM 2010 into all IT environments and offers offsite protection against site disasters. The primary appliance is protecting Microsoft Exchange Server 2010, and a VMware virtual environment. The second appliance will be housed in another location, allowing the Federation to securely send the backup data offsite for disaster recovery. Previously, The Jewish Federation had used tape-based processes that did not fully support the newest generation of Microsoft applications, such as Exchange 2010, and provide seamless integration with VMware. Now with EVault for DPM, The Jewish Federation has a disk-to-disk solution that will enable the organization to accelerate their backup windows and the time it takes for them to recover their critical applications.

EVault for DPM provides organizations with a single backup and recovery solution that leverages EVault’s and Microsoft DPM’s capabilities to protect both Microsoft and non-Microsoft environments. In addition to offering continuous data protection of Windows application and file servers, the solution also provides integrated data protection for UNIX, Linux, Novell Netware, VMware, and IBM i platforms, as well as Oracle databases. EVault for DPM also offers Cloud-Connected capabilities to help IT departments get offsite protection for disaster recovery.

"i365’s EVault for DPM stood out from other options because of its ability to provide best-in-class data protection for Microsoft applications and VMware," said David Abowitt, senior systems manager at The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles. "Our previous solution was not getting the job done as well as we would have liked—the tape-based processes just weren’t giving us a reliable way to back up all data across our various platforms. Now, we’re doing that seamlessly and we will be connecting to the Cloud to take our backup data offsite with one comprehensive solution."

"We designed EVault for DPM to be an easy-to-deploy, easy-to-manage solution that will not only offer deep integration with Microsoft applications but also provide efficient and reliable protection for your entire mixed IT environment," said David Hallmen, worldwide sales and marketing, i365. "The Jewish Federation’s prior backup situation is a great example of how tape-based systems aren’t able to keep up with the increasing demands on data availability and recovery times. Organizations like The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles are proving the market need for this disk-based, cloud-connected approach that can eliminate the need for tape and reduce the cost and complexity of their deployment."
