Storix SBAdmin V7.2
For IBM AIX 7 and TSM 6.2
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on December 10, 2010 at 3:07 pmStorix, Inc., provider of Unix-based backup and disaster recovery solutions for AIX, Solaris and Linux systems, announced the availability of System Backup Administrator (SBAdmin) version 7.2; now with support for AIX 7 and Tivoli Storage Manager 6.2. SBAdmin version 7.2 TSM Edition compliments an existing TSM environment with the added benefit of Adaptable System Recovery (ASR), now available for AIX 7.
"With SBAdmin 7.2 TSM Edition, administrators can configure and manage system backups from a central management console," says Anthony Johnson, President and Founder of Storix, Inc. "Backups are written directly to a TSM server, and administrators can boot and recover entire systems directly from their TSM backup. SBAdmin embraces something that is potentially very complicated and transforms it into an intuitive, reliable, yet highly flexible system recovery solution."
SBAdmin v7.2 Features and Enhancements:
- New System Recovery Features
- Alternate Backup Networks
- AIX 7 & TSM v6.2 Support
- New Backup Device Management
- Enhanced Management Interface
- Support for New ZFS Features
SBAdmin provides Adaptable System Recovery (ASR), the ability to rebuild AIX, Solaris, or Linux systems from bare-metal, giving customers the flexibility to alter the configuration as needed to fit onto any hardware or virtual configuration. ASR essentially adapts a backup to the hardware detected during installation, rebuilding the new system to the same state as the prior system. The complete restore from bare-metal can be managed locally or remotely and can take just minutes. If SBAdmin detects differences between the backup and newly detected hardware, it will make recommendations, such as selection of new disks or automated shrinking of file systems.
The power and flexibility of ASR greatly reduces downtime during disasters or planned outages by providing:
- system recovery onto newer or virtual systems;
- provisioning/cloning of multiple systems; and
- system storage alteration for improved system availability, recoverability and performance.
SBAdmin is available for Solaris SPARC and x86/x64, all Intel-based (x86/Pentium), IBM pSeries (32/64-bit) and HP Itanium 2 systems.
Pricing and Support
SBAdmin version 7.2 TSM Edition is available starting at $435 USD for a single Linux/x86 client license and $842 USD for a single AIX client license. Licenses include 1-year maintenance for access to technical support, software updates and new releases during the coverage period. Technical support is provided via phone or online, with 24/7 support at no charge for urgent recovery situations.
