Netgear Partners with Acronis

To help regional businesses cut backup storage and DR times

NETGEAR and Acronis announced their worldwide technology partnership, which aims to help regional businesses cut backup storage and disaster recovery times.

As part of the agreement, the two companies will collaborate to transform data management in physical, virtual and mixed environments, providing regional businesses storage and back-up solutions at competitive price points. The newly-formed strategic partnership complements NETGEAR’s adoption of a ‘Smart IT’ philosophy offering products that are currently at the peak of their market acceptance, at a reasonable price – giving the company’s ReadyNAS product line an advantage over other storage products in the market today.

The ReadyNAS product line specializes in storage solutions for businesses and medium sized enterprises and includes the ReadyNAS 4200, which has a capacity rate of 24 TB and is compatible with 10 GB Ethernet or fibre. The model also comes with a dual 1 GB outlet that supports unified NAS and SAN architecture, incorporate secure replication utilities and a five year hardware warranty.

Meanwhile, Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 products have been designed to simplify and automate workstation and server backup and recovery processes in Windows and Linux environments and across physical and virtual platforms. The compatibility between the two families of products will allow channel partners to deliver backup, restore and disaster recovery solutions that solve replication, disaster recovery, and individual file restore problems.

"As a new Acronis Global Technology Alliance Partner, we will enable unique joint data management solutions for channel partners serving small and mid-sized businesses by combining our ReadyNAS network storage and Acronis’ image-based backup and recovery software to will significantly lower backup and recovery times from hours to seconds over traditional tape-based solutions," said Ahmad Zeidan, Channel Sales Manager, NETGEAR Middle East "In addition to helping companies backup multiple images of any system at any time, archive them to disk, replicate them off-site and still recover using one single console, we can also aid customers considering tape replacement or migrating to virtual environments in performing complete system backup and recovery times in seconds rather than hours, regardless if the machine is physical or virtual."

Prior to its latest partnership, NETGEA has inked a deal with Network Information Technology (NIT) as its newest value added reseller (VAR) in the Middle East. The company’s efforts to expand its network is in line with its aims to secure worldwide growth by focusing on the SMB sector, which poses positive prospects with increased IT activity and consumer interest.

NETGEARhas also recently unveiled new networking, security and storage solutions, including ReadyNAS 4200, a network storage system with 10Gb Ethernet and iSCSI support, Quad WAN Gigabit SSL VPN Firewall, unmanaged switches, L2 Gigabit POE Switches, and new wireless controller supporting up to 150-APs.

"The technology partnerships we are undertaking are part of our strategy to build a strong network to help us provide only the best to our clients. After the successful reception that Netgear has received from launching top class of smaller format NAS technology, we are pleased to mark another landmark achievement by introducing the Middle East region to X-Raid technology. The region’s IT market demand has come towards more hyper and sensitive requests in terms of data security and protection. Our strategic partnership with Acronis has helped us develop an effective data and end user solution that promises our clients full data protection and security," concluded Zeidan.
