For multi-terabyte migration
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on December 7, 2010 at 3:14 pmMetalogix Software, provider of enterprise content lifecycle management solutions for Microsoft SharePoint, Exchange and Cloud infrastructures, announced that Wyndham Worldwide Corporation has selected Metalogix SharePoint Site Migration Manager to complete their SharePoint upgrade, and provide ongoing support for the management of its SharePoint environment.
Wyndham Worldwide is an hospitality company, representing global brands such as Ramada and Wyndham Vacation Resorts. With a portfolio including over seven thousand hotels, 150 vacation resorts and hundreds of thousands of rental units, the company stretches across six continents. Wyndham Worldwide employs over 25,000 people to support their extensive hospitality network, so when they sought to upgrade their SharePoint environment, they needed a solution that could handle the migration of nearly three terabytes of data.
"The Metalogix solution provided a seamless, cost-effective solution to address our SharePoint migration requirements," said Jan Wyckoff, Technical Systems Specialist at Wyndham Worldwide Corporation. "We migrated just under three terabytes of data over the course of three months. We chose to do the migration in a phased approach so that each team of users could validate their data before we moved on. We purchased two licenses and had the migration running on two different servers. We’d batch up the sites and let them run over night. It really worked out well for us without impacting users or IT resources."
Wyndham continues to leverage Metalogix’s SharePoint Site Migration Manager to manage and optimize their new environment. "With Metalogix we now have a comprehensive solution to migrate, consolidate, manage, and archive content which simplifies the management of SharePoint content will reducing operational costs," added Wyckoff.
Metalogix SharePoint Site Migration Manager 2010 offers gradual/granular migration support with no service pack or hardware prerequisites from SharePoint Portal Server 2003, WSSv2, MOSS 2007, WSSv3 and SharePoint Server 2010 and legacy systems into SharePoint. SharePoint administrators can define when specific content is migrated as well as re-organize and re-template SharePoint sites and lists as they migrate. Metalogix SharePoint Site Migration Manager 2010 is 100 percent Microsoft compliant. The solution interacts with SharePoint only through supported APIs – with no direct writes to the database- and supports SharePoint Online.
"Metalogix has always been committed to providing customers with solutions to help them easily migrate data between different versions of SharePoint, and from legacy systems into SharePoint," said Julien Sellgren, founder and CTO of Metalogix. "We are delighted to see clients like Wyndham leveraging the rich features, like re-organization and re-templating capabilities, in our Migration Manager product for ongoing SharePoint management and optimization as part of a complete enterprise content management solution."
