Kodak Provides Maintenance for Global Information Distribution

In North America

Kodak and Global Information Distribution, Inc. (GID) announce a new service and support agreement for GID’s Silent Cubes Systems in the United States and Canada.

Kodak’s experienced team of Service and Support professionals will provide a Help Desk and on-site maintenance service offerings for the Silent Cubes WORM Solution storage units. The hard disk-based units provide an alternative to digital tapes and optical media for businesses’ long-term storage and data needs.

Through the new agreement, Silent Cubes customers will receive the option of Next Business Day, Priority, and 7 day/24 hour support from Kodak Service and Support. All Silent Cubes will be supported from Single Cube 4, 8 and 16 TB to multiple cubes attached to one Head Unit.

"Kodak Service and Support provides our customers with the added value of on-site personnel who have the knowledge and expertise to service long-term storage needs," said Ernstfried Driesen, President and CEO, GID. "Kodak’s breadth of industry experience in service and customer satisfaction provides users with the peace of mind for a reliable installation and an easily accessible, trusted service organization. Using flexible, scalable service we can help our customers to effectively maintain business compliance with their stored files."

Kodak Service and Support provides expertise in service solutions for meeting business needs and increasing customer satisfaction. Other worldwide services include on-site surveys, set-ups, installations, remote monitoring, supply chain support, and other expert and professional consulting.

Silent Cubes storage units come equipped with WORM technology and perform a range of data security features including resilient coding, data integrity, automated self-auditing, replication software, and abilities to detect hard disk errors and initiate auto repairs. As the amount of information in the digital landscape grows, the need to professionally integrate data between hardware and software also increases. Long-term disk-based archiving through storage provides an effective alternative to other output devices, such as digital tapes and optical media.

"Kodak recognizes the need to approach long-term storage and archiving through new solutions that help businesses to easily and securely manage critical information," said Kathy Clas, Director, Kodak Service and Support. "Whether it’s a hospital backing-up patient files, or an IT group compiling information across business processes, WORM-based storage technology units like Silent Cubes provide a powerful file repository. Combined with Kodak’s host of professional services, organizations can effectively use their storage space for greater potential and long-term business use."
