Release 2.1 of VirtualSharp ReliableDR
Incorporates physical back-ends to DR assurance processes for virtualized infrastructures.
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on December 1, 2010 at 3:25 pmVirtualSharp Software announced the availability of a new release of VirtualSharp ReliableDR product.
Release 2.1 offers support for hybrid applications and out-of-the-box recovery certification for the most popular Microsoft and Oracle application components, as well as Linux Apache. Designed from the ground up for next-generation environments, VirtualSharp ReliableDR 2.1 extends support for physical back-ends that participate in the delivery of mission-critical services and that IT departments choose to leave non virtualised, and whose recovery points objectives and recovery time objectives must be certified simultaneously with virtualised components.
"Managing physical and virtualised workloads in separate DR processes creates recovery compliance exposures unacceptable to customers", said Carlos Escapa, VirtualSharp Software’s co-founder and CEO. "Orchestrating both of them together under a single DR assurance paradigm breaks the barriers between x86 physical and virtualised environments, and increases further the resilience of data centres and their ability to comply with, and demonstrably enforce, service continuity policies".
VirtualSharp has pioneered the concept of Disaster Recovery orchestration, a technique that leverages cloud-computing concepts to generate Virtual Verification Containers (vVCs), mini-data centres where recovery policies are ascertained in fenced environments using automated certification processes. In release 2.1, ReliableDR extends DR orchestration onto physical workloads so that they can be loaded into vVCs alongside virtual workloads; this permits data centres to test failover scenarios and apply recovery policies to hybrid IT services that are delivered with a mix of physical and virtual components.
Also new in release 2.1, VirtualSharp ReliableDR delivers out-of-the-box recovery certification for the most popular components found in virtual data centres, including Microsoft Exchange, SQL Server, Internet Information Services, and Sharepoint, as well as Oracle databases, MySQL and Apache. VirtualSharp ReliableDR wizards allow recovery administrators to provide an added level of DR assurance without scripting.
"VirtualSharp Software is making good on its roadmap and delivering further game-changing features that increase the resilience of datacentres and the confidence in BC/DR processes," says Fernando Baus, Director of IT Infrastructure at Caja de Ahorros del Mediterraneo in Alicante Spain. "We are excited to see such dynamism in our technological partner and we are now deploying release 2.1 to DR-assure our most important x86-based IT services in our corporate datacentre."
