Isilon Joined Microsoft Partner Solutions Center
To validate integrated IT solutions
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on November 30, 2010 at 3:11 pmIsilon Systems, Inc. announced that it has joined the Microsoft Partner Solutions Center (MPSC) where the company and Microsoft Corp. will work together to design and validate integrated IT solutions for enterprise customers in virtualization, cloud computing, media and telecommunications workloads.
With Isilon scale-out storage, users can consolidate file- and block-based applications onto a single, unified shared pool of storage, simplifying data management to increase storage resource utilization and efficiency for virtualized and non-virtualized compute and storage environments.
"We are pleased to have Isilon join the MPSC as a partner," said David Hayes, Director, Microsoft Partner Solutions Center, Communications Sector at Microsoft. "Isilon’s scale-out storage solutions are a compelling alternative to traditional storage platforms, offering Microsoft customers on-demand storage resources that simplify data management for virtualized data centers, cloud computing environments and media workflows."
The MPSC is a 21,000 square foot facility located on the Microsoft Redmond, Washington campus and features technology laboratories, data centers, a network operations center and partner offices for building, testing and designing IT solutions for Microsoft customers.
By joining the MPSC, Isilon and Microsoft
will work together to develop integrated solutions
in the following areas:
- Virtualized Data Centers: Microsoft’s Hyper-V Server helps eliminate server sprawl and drive increased efficiency and resource utilization throughout the data center. Similarly, Isilon scale-out storage unifies data and applications on a single, shared storage resource, simplifying data and virtual server management to drive increased utilization and performance for virtualized data centers.
- Cloud Computing: Windows Azure is a flexible cloud computing platform that minimizes infrastructure investment, while providing a secure access to on-demand IT resources with more than 99.9 percent uptime. Meanwhile, Isilon scale-out storage enables on-demand scaling of performance and capacity in a single file system and point of management, providing the flexibility to scale private cloud environments in-line with business growth, while at the same time integrating with Azure for applications best served in the public cloud.
- Media and Telecommunications: Microsoft offers a range of products and technologies that enable media and telecommunications companies to monetize content, take advantage of new delivery mediums and reach an ever-wider audience. By combining Microsoft’s suite of media and telecommunications products with Isilon scale-out storage, customers can more efficiently manage, store and access growing content libraries to maximize their value.
"By joining the MPSC, Isilon is demonstrating our continued commitment to delivering simple, yet powerful data management and storage solutions for enterprise businesses," said Roger Frey, senior director of alliances, Isilon. "Whether consolidating a Hyper-V environment onto a single storage resource or scaling out capacity to support private or public cloud computing infrastructures, Isilon enables Microsoft customers to maximize their storage investment and get the most of their software investments. We look forward to continuing our work with Microsoft to further develop innovative, integrated solutions for our mutual customers."
