Arkeia Network Backup Arkeia Citrix Ready

Arkeia Software announced that its Arkeia Network Backup solution has been verified as Citrix Ready. The Citrix Ready program helps customers identify third-party solutions that are recommended to enhance virtualization, networking and cloud computing solutions from Citrix. Arkeia Network Backup completed a rigorous verification process to ensure compatibility with XenServer, providing confidence in joint solution compatibility.

XenServer environments can be integrated into an Arkeia Network Backup global backup policy in two ways. These approaches may be used singly or together. With the first approach, administrators deploy a backup agent in each virtual machine and perform a traditional backup of each ‘guest’ operating system. Advantages of this method include a granular, file-level restore and the ability to perform hot backups of data for a wide variety of databases and applications. Arkeia offers discounted pricing for agents deployed in XenServer virtual machines.

With the second approach, administrators perform backups at the hypervisor level, creating image snapshots of each virtual machine and associated disk. This backup method allows a fast restore of full virtual machines, and allows multiple virtual machines to be protected with a single Arkeia backup agent. Backups can be restored either to the original XenServer hypervisor or redirected to another hypervisor. With both approaches backups can be made directly to disk, directly to tape, to-disk-to-tape, or to-disk-to-the-cloud.
