The Ventura Unified School District supports 29 elementary, middle and high schools and continuing education facilities over a 165 square mile region which includes the City of Ventura, Calif. and the surrounding area. Ventura Unified is managing over 20 TB of data on over 100 servers across the district. Yet, its distributed data model has grown costly and difficult to manage. The school district has standardized on the Gridstore NASg solution to reduce the infrastructure complexity and management of its distributed architecture to reduce management costs and risk.
"We wanted a comprehensive NAS solution that provided all the functionality for end-to-end storage management with the scale-out features we require as we continue to grow," said Ted Malos, director of technology, Ventura Unified School District. "No one else but Gridstore has the ease of deployment, transparent management capabilities and Grid functionality in a powerful, comprehensive solution."
After evaluating multiple options, the Ventura Unified School District has selected Gridstore’s NASg solution. It combines the simplicity, convenience and affordability of NAS with the scalability, performance and reliability of enterprise-class storage. As a result, the school district will achieve a powerful NAS storage grid that will eliminate storage sprawl and multiple single points of failure while benefiting from a next-generation storage offering at 1/3 the cost of standalone NAS solutions.
The NASg solution from Gridstore will enable the Ventura Unified School District to eliminate the risk, cost and complexity of its previous distributed storage infrastructure. The school district will have the ability to aggregate the processing power of client systems and perform complex parallel storage processes on existing NAS resources, saving costs and maximizing existing resources without added management hassle.
"With Gridstore NASg, every organization, regardless of the size of its data storage requirements, can have the enterprise-class storage it requires without compromising performance, reliability or risk," said Kelly Murphy, CEO and co-founder, Gridstore. "Small and midsized organizations like Ventura Unified School District can have the limitless storage capacity they require with unlimited network bandwidth and processing capacity at a fraction of the cost of traditional NAS solutions."
