Snapshot and Volume Copy/Mirror With Infortrend’s EonStor DS Storage Systems
To protect critical data of SMBs
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on November 5, 2010 at 3:04 pmInfortrend announced that data service features, including snapshot and volume copy/mirror, will now be included in the company’s EonStor DS storage systems. By making these features standardly available, Infortrend is arming SMBs with the ability to protect their mission-critical data and implement disaster recovery plans without added costs.
Space-Saving, Point-in-time, Copy-on-write Methodology
The snapshot feature allows users of EonStor DS systems to perform instant, low-impact backups with space-efficient differential copies without disrupting online applications. Snapshots protect production data from accidental modifications, deletions and corruptions with minimal capacity requirements and performance overhead.
The volume copy/mirror features offer the ability to non-disruptively produce full data copies in a single system. With volume mirror, these copies can be synchronized with source data at pre-set intervals. Synchronized data copies can be used to restart service in minutes in the event of a failure in the source volume, while point-in-time copies can be leveraged for secondary applications, such as testing and decision support.
Thomas Kao, director of product planning at Infortrend, noted: "Data protection is an extremely important consideration for all types of businesses. However, achieving proper data protection can be a challenge for SMBs in particular, as their IT budgets tend to be limited. With the new standard availability of snapshot and volume copy/mirror functions on Infortrend’s EonStor DS systems, data protection becomes more affordable for SMBs – enabling them to achieve an excellent ROI from a single storage array purchase."
For customers requiring expanded use of the snapshot and volume copy/mirror features, optional advanced licenses are available for purchase with the EonStor DS systems.
