Coraid Announces “Zero-Hour” Support Service
By removing HDD from a failed RAID and place it into onsite hot-spare array
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on November 5, 2010 at 3:00 pmCoraid Inc., developer of Ethernet SAN solutions with more than 1,200 customers worldwide, unveiled Coraid Zero-Hour Support, a service offering that provides on-site hot-spare EtherDrive storage appliances for rapid remediation of hardware failures in mission-critical environments.
Coraid Zero-Hour Support is a pioneering customer-service offering based on Coraid’s disk-portability technology, which allows users to swap drives between arrays for upgrades, service reconfiguration, data transfers or disaster recovery on the fly.
"Coraid continues to push the envelope when it comes to offering dramatic and disruptive alternatives to entrenched SAN approaches," said Mark Peters, senior analyst at the Enterprise Strategy Group. "Its new Zero-Hour Support offering is simultaneously user-friendly and easy for customers, yet hard for competitors to match; compelling proof-points such as this show that Coraid’s Ethernet SAN has a genuine potential to challenge traditional Fibre Channel and iSCSI sales."
Coraid takes advantage of its hot-swappable array design to provide customers with a service offering that enables immediate replacement for hardware-based failures in the field. Rather than wait a pre-determined time-frame for part delivery and technicians to arrive, Coraid customers can remove disks from a failed array and place them into an onsite hot-spare array for immediate recovery and restored access to data.
"Coraid Zero-Hour Support leverages Coraid’s disruptive technology to enable a business innovation: much faster recovery, for much less money," said Kevin Brown, CEO of Coraid. "Instead of buying expensive eight-hour and four-hour support plans from legacy vendors that deliver costly replacement gear via forklift, Coraid’s disk-portability technology enables users to recover in minutes by moving drives to a hot spare chassis. We’re passionate about redefining storage economics, and we think Zero-Hour Support can really change the equation for customers."
