SMEStorage Integrates Cloud Storage Gateway

With ExtJS Portal framework

SMEStorage has integrated it’s cloud gateway appliance with the ExtJS Portal framework. This enables organisations to have access to private and public storage information directly from within their Portal infrastructure.

ExtJS is a JavaScript library for building interactive web applications using techniques such as Ajax, DHTML and DOM scripting. It has gained quite a following and is a popular choice as a Portal infrastructure.

The main advantage of that ExtJS has over other frameworks is its component-oriented model which leads to an to use API to build widget-based interfaces. It also now features integrated touch sensitive web apps using HTML5 which makes it a stronger Ajax tools and Portal framework.

SMEStorage CEO, Ian Osborne stated: "The integration that has been done enables aggregated data access for different corporate information clouds when users sign into the Portal. For example, clouds such as Amazon S3, RackSpace Cloud Files, and other internal CIFS based storage clouds are made available through the Portal in a tree view via the on-premise SMEStorage Cloud Gateway appliance."

Osborne continued by stating: "We also have the capability to integrate with identity management systems enabling users to use a single sign on to get access to corporate information that can be protected based on permissions that are mapped through our Cloud Gateway. We believe the real power of the platform integration for organisations comes with the ability to present a cohesive front-end to all their information sources. The web 2.0 world is only one aspect of this, and we are able to offer organisations the ability to also use the SMEStorage desktop and mobility tools as a comprehensive data access solution that can be used throughout a company."
