AdMob Purchased FileTek StorHouse

To backup and manage Web traffic information

FileTek, Inc. announced that AdMob Google, Inc. recently purchased a FileTek StorHouse data management solution. The solution will manage database files that contain essential web traffic information for customer web advertising campaigns as AdMob serves billions of targeted ads each month to consumers who browse the mobile web.

"AdMob’s forward-thinking, leading-edge technology is dedicated to the growth and evolution of the mobile Internet," commented Prasana Lynegar of AdMob. "To meet the unique requirements of mobile users, we have historically embraced only Open Source software and a sophisticated ad management platform written by our own talented developers. However, when searching for a way to lower storage and storage management costs for the long-term; provide safe, secure, and easily accessible database backups; and store data from various sources and business purposes in a single system, we recognized the business value and ROI that StorHouse brings to the marketplace."

FileTek StorHouse is a storage virtualization platform that can archive and retrieve massive amounts of both structured and unstructured information to and from a wide variety of storage devices. For traditional file-base applications, StorHouse presents a NFS/NTFS/CIFS file system interface layer to archive and retrieve any format of unstructured data without the need for application modifications. StorHouse archives can grow to billions of files with no performance degradation by using a patented relational method for storing/indexing file metadata. Unlike legacy HSM systems, the number of stored files is never subject to individual file system constraints. Data remains accessible from a blended hierarchy of alternative and traditional storage media.

AdMob chose StorHouse over traditional backup applications because the system provides a native file format approach. In contrast, other backup methods store data in compressed, highly proprietary formats and require users to repair/format devices and restore content before it can be used. This restoration can take days-to-weeks to perform, causing retrieval delays and costly system downtime. With StorHouse, users have access to the entire contents of the virtual storage environment, which can include petabytes of information. Because StorHouse enables real-time access to individual files in their native format, it eliminates the need for traditional restore processing.

"AdMob has an energetic, successful network with an ever-increasing customer base. More business means a growing volume of transaction database information to back up and secure," remarked Chuck Whinney, the FileTek General Manager for StorHouse. "StorHouse is the perfect backup solution because it lowers the cost to store and manage large data volumes, ensures data integrity, facilitates data access, scales to petabytes and beyond to support future growth, and remains media/hardware agnostic."
