Mellanox IB Switch Systems Selected by IBM

Mellanox Technologies, Ltd. announced that its IS5000 of 108 and 324-port modular 40Gb/s InfiniBand switches with industry-leading latency performance, are now available through IBM’s iDataPlex and Intelligent Cluster product lines. Mellanox’s switch systems, in combination with it ConnectX-2 40Gb/s InfiniBand adapters, offer IBM customers I/O infrastructure performance and scalability for data centers, cloud, Web 2.0 and high-performance computing (HPC) environments.

Mellanox’s IS5000 line of InfiniBand switches provides high-performance fabric solutions. HPC and enterprise data center IT managers using the IS5100 and IS5300 can realize a greater return on their compute and infrastructure investments through increased CPU productivity via higher network throughput and availability. The dense IS5100 108-port and IS5300 324-port switches were built using Mellanox’s 4th generation InfiniScale IV InfiniBand switch device, and provide up to 40Gb/s fully, non-blocking, bidirectional bandwidth per port with industry-leading 300ns port-to-port latency. Networks built with the IS5100 and IS5300 can carry converged traffic with the combination of assured bandwidth and granular quality of service.

Mellanox’s full line of ConnectX-2 single and dual-port 40Gb/s InfiniBand and 10GigE adapter cards, and 36, 108, 216, 324 and 648-port 40Gb/s InfiniBand switch systems are available from IBM.
