TData to Resell dataStor De-Dupe Backup Software

In Australia

Deduplication, backup and disaster recovery solutions from Data Storage Group, Inc., trading as dataStor, are now available in Australia, according to its newly-appointed, exclusive distributor TData.

dataStor is in source-based deduplication backup software. dataStor Shield is OEMed through industry leaders Quantum and Lenovo. Tandberg Data also OEMs dataStor products.

dataStor Shield is hardware agnostic and can utilize existing disk arrays to deliver major savings on disk utilization in any Windows 2003 or later environment. Unlike most of the competitive deduplication offerings on the market, dataStor Shield also reduces network traffic and shrinks backup windows by as much as 95%, because dataStor Shield deduplicates backup data at the source.

"Specifically designed to solve the business issues associated with legacy tape-based systems, our solutions significantly lower the cost and time of the backup process for budget-conscious businesses," said Brian Dodd, dataStor President and CEO. "We’re delighted to be partnering with TData in order to develop our presence in Australia and New Zealand, as well as working together with TData to educate and encourage businesses to adopt these best-practice back-up strategies."

With its source-based deduplication technology, dataStor Shield solutions use a fully-distributed content-factoring process which deduplicates data globally across all production servers or client computers. This unique, scalable method uses minimal resources, ensuring that dataStor’s technology is efficient with core memory, network bandwidth and computing resources, allowing the process to run on any device from laptop computers to large networks of enterprise servers. Channel Sales Manager, Tom Troy points to dataStor Shield’s simpler interface as a real selling point. "When we run demos we can have people up and running an evaluation in their environment from scratch within half an hour," he said.

"We re-launched our storage business last year with actidata GmbH tape storage and NAS boxes, but we were lacking a cutting edge back-up and Disaster Recovery product set to complete the solution," said TData Director, Jeremy Campbell. "dataStor Shield is it. We see huge potential for dataStor Shield in Australia, and are as excited about this product launch as we have been at any time in our 25 plus year history," he said. "We now have an extremely powerful, cost effective back-up and DR solution for any predominantly Windows based environment. There is nothing else on the market today that can match it."
