EClaris Can Index 1PB of Backup Tapes in One Month

Using Index Engines appliances

eClaris Inc. has improved its backup tape content indexing and extraction cabilities.

"Our consultants automatically index catalog and extract offline/online data straight from tape, at tape speed, without the backup software. We organize backup tape contents and metadata; make them immediately accessible, searchable and easy to manage. Our high-performance Index Engines appliances churn out terabytes of data per day. eClaris can now catalog and index more that a petabyte (1000 terabytes) of backup tape content in just one month. The data is stored on the company’s recently acquired Hitachi AMS 2100 and AMS 2500. The AMS 2500 has 400TB of storage space configured with dual-parity high-availability and data protection," said the company.

Features:

  • Automation of extracted backup tape data in native format, with all metadata intact
  • Comprehensive index including all relevant files, file metadata, and user/security indicators for all offline ESI
  • Dynamically de-duplication query capability returns only unique files when searching, eliminating duplicate files and email
  • Produces query results with file location and tape ID in user-friendly graphic interface
  • Users can designate the data they wish to restore in a query results window and then have eClaris automatically generate a report
