Astute Networks ATCA Storage System to Support Dual RAID Controllers
With Edge Storage Foundation Suite Version 2.0.
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on October 8, 2010 at 3:27 pmAstute Networks, Inc. announced its Edge Storage Foundation Suite (ESFS) Version 2.0. This software update provides support for dual RAID controllers which increases redundancy in its Caspian family of ATCA bladed storage systems. Astute Networks is the first company to release a dual-controller storage solution for the ATCA platform.
"In the past, support for dual RAID controller functionality had not been an option for ATCA storage systems," said Dr. Simon Knee, vice president of software and architecture, Astute Networks. "With the advent of these high-availability features, users of ATCA now have access to enterprise storage functionality with all the benefits of ATCA technology. Additionally, Astute Networks is the only company to offer redundancy at both the drive and controller level. "
The Astute Networks ESFS is an extensible storage and systems framework designed for leveraging the open standards of the Advanced Telecommunications Computing Architecture (ATCA) and creating the deployment simplicity required by end-users in mission-critical environments such as telecommunications and defense.
The ESFS 2.0 update will also add support for external JBOD (just a bunch of disks) storage systems. This enables end-users to minimize the number of slots dedicated to storage in the ATCA chassis by connecting to external storage outside the chassis through the Caspian storage blade.
"Support for external JBOD storage allows customers to utilize our best-of-breed RAID controllers while minimizing the number of ATCA slots used and maximizing the system’s storage capacity," added Knee.
