NetApp customers for the first time have the ability to connect Mac OS X servers and workstations to NetApp enterprise-class storage systems. This solution provides Mac communities in media and entertainment, education, scientific and government fields, an option to integrate enterprise-class storage features into environments using applications that are specifically designed for Mac operating systems.

ATTO’ set of proprietary drivers for the Mac OS X platform enables Mac host systems to recognize multiple paths to NetApp storage, manage failover and significantly boost performance by load balancing data traffic. ATTO’s 8Gb/s Celerity Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapters (HBAs) have been certified as the connectivity solution for Mac servers and workstations to NetApp enterprise-class storage.

"The announcement of ATTO’s participation in the NetApp Alliance Partner Program, allows us to provide a solution that meets the high-availability demands of applications in media and entertainment environments. We are the first-to-market with a Fibre Channel storage connectivity solution that allows customers to connect their Mac servers and workstations to NetApp enterprise-class storage systems," said Tim Klein president and CEO of ATTO Technology.

"ATTO helps us reach a new segment of customers who, until now, have not been able to take advantage of our storage," said Patrick Rogers, vice president of Solutions and Alliances at NetApp. "Having ATTO as a member in our Alliance Partner program not only helps us reach new customers, but will greatly benefit our joint customers who can now take advantage of NetApp’s flexible and efficient IT solutions."
