Instavia Enables DR From Microsoft DPM

Within seconds using DPMExplorer

Instavia Software, Inc. announced the availability of the first release of its DPMExplorer.

DPMExplorer allows IT administrators to browse the protected data history in a Microsoft Data Protection Manager server and to perform an instant recovery of a point-in-time data set, regardless of the data set size. A recovering Exchange Storage Group is ready to be mounted within seconds, and recovering SQL and SharePoint databases can be attached to the database service instantly.

"For businesses that use Microsoft Data Protection Manager, DPMExplorer eliminates downtime costs and business risks associated with data recovery", says Siew Sim-Tang, CEO of Instavia.

DPMExplorer relies on its DataTransporter to perform instant data BEAMing. DataTransporter is complementary to high availability (cluster) solutions. In contrast to server failover, which is not able to address data failures, DPMExplorer and DataTransporter would allow data to be restored instantly to the application server during precisely this type of failures, so that high availability can be guaranteed under all circumstances.

The first release of DPMExplorer and beta release of DataTransporter can be downloaded for free. The current release of DPMExplorer supports the instant recovery of Exchange Storage Group, as well as SQL and SharePoint databases from Microsoft Data Protection Manager (DPM) 2007.

In addition to instant recovery from Microsoft DPM, DataTransporter can be used for instant migration of files, Hyper-V virtual machines, and databases from one server to another server. It also allows IT administrators to instantly restructure their Exchange and database files and folders from one storage volume to another storage volume, without any downtime.
