Technology
Designed in 2008 by engineers of ErmesTel, the technology concept entitled ‘disaster recovery orchestration’ uses the core characteristics of virtualization to generate Virtual Verification Containers (vVCs), mini-data centers with their own resources and network. Snapshots of Virtual Machines (VMs) are loaded into the vVCs, and the ‘orchestrator’ verifies that the IT service is functioning according to recovery policies. The software allows IT administrators to simulate failover scenarios as often as required and automates the failover processes to the point where service is restored. In addition, it allows to be DR-assured individually and apply recovery policies aligned with the criticality of each IT service. IT administrators can carry out DR tests of individual IT services daily or hourly rather than yearly or quarterly. ReliableDR can run either stand-alone or as a VM in the secondary site, freeing the organization’s production assets from DR overhead.

Comments

Spain was never known as a country with innovative storage technology like this one from VirtualSharp giving confidence to IT managers that their data recovery process will work properly on their VMware virtual data centers.

The only other Spanish start-up we know is VC-backed software company Kinamik Data Integrity in Barcelona and also in US, involved in real-time data integrity preservation of sensitive data.
