Emulex Simplifies Connectivity Management in VMware Environments

At VMworld 2010, Emulex Corporation announced its new OneCommandManager plug-in (OCM-VCp) for VMware vCenter Server.

The Emulex OneCommand plug-in simplifies management of Emulex LightPulse Fibre Channel HBAs and OneConnect Universal Converged Network Adapters (UCNAs) within VMware vSphere environments by enabling administrators to centrally monitor, manage, update and run diagnostics on Emulex adapters, directly from VMware vCenter Server.

"In our recent work with IT managers, they’ve said that the deployment of 10Gb Ethernet is tied directly to their deployment of server virtualization and our plug-in for VMware vCenter Server will help accelerate deployment and lower management costs for our customers," said Steve Daheb, chief marketing officer and senior vice president of business development, Emulex. The Emulex OneCommand Manager plug-in for VMware vCenter Server also offers asset information, such as adapter and driver firmware versions and driver configuration settings, directly within VMware vSphere environments. This allows IT administrators to natively update adapter firmware and driver settings.
